Well… another post about if it’s possible to surf in Barcelona, or if there are waves in this city, now that surfing is the new trend in the city. No Way! At Stemaki we are lovers of sliding sports in general, but far from opening the debate on whether there are waves or not in Barcelona, we have dedicated ourselves to mark the best spots in Barcelona for surfing on a map (that’s our role) and we have asked to our surfers about the waves in Barcelona (and a little bit about them) with a short interview!

10 questions to 10 passionate waves seekers, people of the world and better people! ;)

Surfing Birthdate?: Summer of 2003.

Your favourite local Spot: I love to move around searching for waves. I don’t have a favourite spot. Everything depends on how the sea is working that day.

Your favourite Not local Spot: Hossegor.

What surfboard do you ride? HAV Surfboards is helping me with some surfboards, so I can try diferent shapes and I can choose the best board for each day. But normally HAV 6’0 x 19 x 2 3/8 (28L).

Your favorite surfer? Kelly Slater and Dane Reynolds.

What’s your motivating song before a Surf Sess?: Alexander – A million years.

A meal to recover energies after a Surf Sess: A good plate of pasta!

But…There are any waves in Barcelona? One thing, for sure, you’ve been never asked about…but…What’s your answer?:  Barcelona is a difficult place to surf, because the frequency is low and we don’t have many swells. But if you know how to interpret the forecast and you have a car, you could be surprised!

There are any waves in Barcelona?:  I wake up at 7am every morning, turn on my PC and the first thing I do is to check the webcam. Someday, I even run down to the beach to check the perfect lines… and day after day I see the same image: sun, crystal clear water, small waves breaking, no one in the lineup… I try to put some imagination!
