Mercat de Santa Caterina

Another of the most important markets of the city is Santa Caterina. Located in Ciutat Vella, in La Ribera neighborhood, opened in 1848 and it was the first covered market in the city. The reform of the new market was designed by the architect’s team formed by Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue.

 

Did you know…

The most emblematic element of the project and the market itself is its colorful cover that remains to a Gaudi mosaic, consisting of 325,000 pieces that reproduce the colors of vegetables stands.

Schedule*:

Monday, Wednesday and Saturday: 7:30am to 3:30pm
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: From 7:30am to 8:30pm
During August: Monday to Saturday from 7:30am to 3:30pm and Friday from 7:30am to 8:30pm
