Says the legend that everytime a shop closes in Passeig de Gràcia , Amancio Ortega slaughters a lamb saying thanks to the gods. Some tarotists say that in the future you will be able to walk from the Jardinets de Gràcia to Plaça Catalunya jumping from zara in zara and doing a pit-stop in MCdonalds.

Let’s check out some of the places we will miss , now that their not there

1. Cine París

Portal de l’Àngel

It was 1994 when some of us saw Mufasa die in this cinema. So if Zara opened their shop earlier we wouldn’t have had to see Mufasa die. Nowadays if you have a bad day just come and visit us and you will cheer up!

2. Librería Catalònia

Ronda de Sant Pere

Full of culture, it survived to a civil war the same as our grandparents, closing it’s doors when it was 88 years old and letting  MCdonalds take place. Is it because we prefer E-books … with double of cheese and bacon?

3. Juguetería Monforte

Carrer de la Palla

Is there anything more sad than a toy shop that has been opened 173 years closing down of the night of the Three Wise Men? Thank you to all the law regulations.

4. Vinçon

Passeig de Gràcia

The closing down of this icon of architecture and design has been one of this years news. Vinçon has been a mentor since 1941, Barcelona has been influences with it’s objects, bags, calendars and window displays. It has helped more than one of us when we have had to buy a present , or not?

5. La Montserratina

Carrer Santa Ana

It has also been a hard year for the traditional bakery’s. One of the most popular places in the centre of Barcelona where you could buy a traditional cake or croissant that wasn’t like plastic has closed down. The prices of a squared metre in Portal de l’Àngel doesn’t understand our nostalgia!

6. Musical Emporium

Rambla de Canaletes

This is the place where our parents took us as children to make us learn how to play the piano, they took us to choose the piano score. The Barcelona children didn’t understand that the shop was unique and people have travelled over 114 years to find all the piano score and instruments that are in this shop.
